The 6th match of the T20 Spring Challenge 2026 at Bankstown Oval, Sydney produced an absolute classic as the <a href="https://cricket.international/match-9-adelaide-strikers-women-vs-hobart-hurricanes-women-squads-players-to-watch-live-streaming-pitch-report/” title=”Match 9: Adelaide Strikers Women vs Hobart Hurricanes Women – Squads, Players to Watch, Live Streaming, Pitch Report”>Adelaide Strikers Women pulled off a thrilling victory over the Perth Scorchers Women.

After Adelaide Strikers skipper Amanda-Jade Wellington won the toss and sent the opposition into bat, the Perth Scorchers opening duo hit the ground running with an explosive start. Katie Mack and Ines McKeon launched a fierce assault during the mandatory powerplay, guiding their team to a dominant 65 runs inside the first six overs.

The pair forged a destructive 84-run opening partnership off just 43 balls before Amanda-Jade Wellington got the first breakthrough in the 8th over, having Mack stumped by Kate Peterson for a fiery 51 off 28 balls (7 fours, 1 six) at 84/1. McKeon continued the charge alongside Mikayla Hinkley, adding 40 runs off 30 balls for the second wicket. McKeon reached her milestone with a brilliant 51 off 33 deliveries featuring 5 fours and 2 sixes before falling in the 13th over, caught by Ellie Johnston off Maggie Clark at 124/2.

The Strikers pulled back momentum during the middle overs with swift wickets. Maggie Clark struck again just five balls later to dismiss Scorchers captain Chloe Piparo for 1 off 2, caught by Emma de Broughe, breaking a brief 4-run stand off 5 balls at 128/3. Madeline Penna then dominated with the ball, catching and bowling Rebecca McGrath for 3 off 5 at 134/4 after a 6-run stand off 12 balls. Mikayla Hinkley held the innings together, forming a crucial 41-run fifth-wicket partnership off 23 balls with Lilly Mills, who scored 6 off 9 before being clean bowled by Penna at 175/5 in the 19th over.

Hinkley smashed a superb 57 off 37 balls (2 fours, 4 sixes) before falling to Eleanor Larosa in the final over at 176/6 after a short 1-run stand off 2 balls with Ruby Strange. Larosa then had Taneale Peschel caught by Ella Wilson for 4 off 4 after a 4-run stand off 4 balls at 180/7. On the final delivery of the innings, Strange was run out for 0 off 1 by Elizabeth Worthley and Larosa after a 2-run stand off 1 ball, leaving Alyssa Dermody unbeaten on 1 off 1 as the Scorchers concluded their 20 overs at 182/8.

For the Strikers, Madeline Penna (2/19 in 4 overs) was the stand-out bowler with her frugal spell, supported by Eleanor Larosa (2/41 in 4 overs) and Maggie Clark (2/37 in 3 overs). Amanda-Jade Wellington chipped in with 1/35 in 4 overs, while Isabella Malgioglio (0/43 in 4 overs) and Emerson Filsell (0/7 in 1 over) went wicketless.

Chasing a daunting target of 183 runs, the Adelaide Strikers Women began their response in fiery fashion. Ellie Johnston blazed a rapid 34 off just 17 balls (5 fours) in a blistering 53-run opening stand off 29 balls with Emma de Broughe. Johnston fell to Lilly Mills in the 5th over at 53/1, but de Broughe maintained the tempo alongside Eleanor Larosa. The duo put together a steady 40-run second-wicket partnership off 35 balls, driving the total to 93/2 before Taneale Peschel removed de Broughe for a well-crafted 40 off 34 balls (4 fours), caught by Alyssa Dermody in the 11th over.

Larosa continued her fine all-round display, scoring 31 off 25 balls (4 fours) and sharing a 24-run stand off 15 balls with Madeline Penna before being stumped off Mills at 117/3 in the 14th over. The match reached its climax through a sensational late counter-attack by Madeline Penna and wicketkeeper-batter Kate Peterson. The duo put on a match-defining 62-run partnership off 36 balls for the fourth wicket, completely taking the game away from Perth.

Peterson played a vital hand of 21 off 17 balls (2 fours) before being caught by Katie Mack off Ruby Strange on the first ball of the final over at 179/4. With four runs needed, Elizabeth Worthley struck a boundary off her very first ball (4* off 1) to finish the game in style alongside Penna in an unbroken 4-run partnership off 1 ball. Penna remained unbeaten on a breathtaking 47 off just 22 deliveries, striking at 213.64 with 7 boundaries and a six. The Strikers completed the chase comfortably at 183/4 in 19.2 overs to seal a memorable 6-wicket win.

Among the Perth Scorchers bowlers, Lilly Mills was the pick with figures of 2/35 in 4 overs. Taneale Peschel took 1/52 in 4 overs and Ruby Strange grabbed 1/25 in 3.2 overs, while Amy Edgar (0/34 in 4 overs) and Ebony Hoskin (0/37 in 4 overs) went without a wicket.
