The 21-year outdated, enjoying simply his fifth ODI after making his debut towards Australia in Could, grew to become the first Pakistani to attain a half-century and take a five-for in a 50-over worldwide since the nice Shahid Afridi in 2013.

It’s a feat solely Afridi (3 times) and Abdul Razzaq have managed among Pakistan players in ODI cricket.

The latter’s dismissal, chipping an easy catch down the ground, infuriated former nice Stuart Broad.

“That’s appalling batting,” Broad mentioned on commentary, having seen England slip to 205-7.

“With Will Jacks at the other end, you’re saying England have an opportunity, you play for your associate … he’s simply chipped it down long-on’s throat.

“A poor wicket for England to lose.”

Banton smashed 5 fours and two sixes in his 53-ball knock. Naseem Shah snared the prized wicket of Joe Root for 33, and Haris Rauf removed a harmful Sam Curran for 27 as England’s run chase faltered.

Pakistan had also overwhelmed Sri Lanka by 37 runs in the first game, with skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi happy by the staff’s progress.

England captain Brook rued a lack of partnerships with the bat.

“We had been quite happy by limiting them underneath 300 after which the openers set the tone beautifully, however we couldn’t placed on partnerships and ended up on the wrong aspect,” he mentioned.

Brook was baffled when learning of Minhas’ young age, paying tribute to his outstanding individual game, together with an outstanding leg break that comprehensively bowled the England star.

“Is he solely 21? I didn’t know that,” he mentioned.

“He was the standout performer by a mile… I’ve performed plenty of cricket out here in Pakistan, and I do know that it often simply skids on.

“ I maintain my fingers up to him – he was the higher performer on the day.”

Nawaz and Minhas earlier lifted Pakistan from a precarious 133-5.

Nawaz, who hit 4 sixes and 5 fours, added 78 for the sixth wicket with Minhas as England struggled to interrupt their stand, dropping three catches.

Minhas then added an invaluable 72 for the seventh wicket with Faheem Ashraf (39) as Pakistan added 91 runs in the final 10 overs.

Minhas hit nine fours, while Ashraf’s knock included a six and 5 fours. England’s Gus Atkinson jolted Pakistan with the very first ball of the match to dismiss Fakhar Zaman, caught by Root at brief mid-wicket.
