Australia National Cricket Team is currently in Zimbabwe playing a three-match ODI series against the Chevrons. This is a massive milestone for the spinner.
Australia comfortably won the first match by 59 runs, and they are on the verge of winning the second match and the series as well after setting a huge target of 357 runs. This is good practice for the Kangaroos ahead of the ODI World Cup 2027, with Zimbabwe being one of the co-hosts for the tournament alongside South Africa and Namibia.
Adam Zampa breaks Shane Warne’s record
Adam Zampa achieved the 200-wicket milestone in the 24.4th over after dismissing opener Innocent Kaia in the match. The Zimbabwe batter looked to drive against a googly but was beaten in flight and also in line. The ball ended up hitting the leg stump, and he was dismissed for 34 runs. He became the 7th overall Aussie to achieve it.
After taking the wicket of Kaia, Zampa surpassed the record of Shane Warne, becoming the fastest Aussie spinner, as the former achieved the milestone in 123 matches and Warne achieved it in 125 matches. Adam Zampa also became the third-fastest spinner in terms of matches to pick 200 ODI wickets; he is behind Saqlain Mushtaq and Rashid Khan.

Oliver Peake achieves new record in 2nd ODI
In the match, yet another record was broken as Oliver Peake, at 20 years and 7 days, became the youngest Australian spinner to take an ODI wicket, surpassing Nathan Hauritz (20y 155d) against South Africa in 2002. The young all-rounder has been impressive since his debut.
In this match, he also contributed with the bat, scoring a crucial 41 runs off 18 deliveries for the Kangaroos to help them go past the 350-run mark. Hopefully, he will solve their lower-middle-order issue.
Travis Head stands tall for Australia
Coming to the match, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza won the toss and opted to bowl first. The Aussie openers, captain Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head, started brilliantly as they stitched a 130-run partnership for the first wicket in 114 deliveries. Marsh was dismissed for 53 runs.
After a poor 1st ODI, Head came back strong, scoring a century. He played a knock of 112 runs off 84 deliveries. Cooper Connolly also contributed with the bat, scoring 78 runs, and Peake’s aggressive 41 runs in the end helped the side post 356/6.
The Chevrons are in danger with two wickets in hand; they never got off to a start, and no one from the team played a big knock as they still need 99 runs with just more than four overs remaining.
