Australia A Women completed a clean sweep over India A Women with a hard-fought seven-run victory in the 3rd T20 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on September 17. After Australia A posted 168/5 from their 20 overs, India A came close in the chase but were eventually bowled out for 161 in 19.5 overs. The result gave Australia A a 3-0 series victory after their wins in the first two matches.

Australia A Women began their innings positively, with Tahlia Wilson and Rachel Trenaman putting together a brisk opening partnership. The pair added 24 runs from 17 deliveries before Wilson’s stay at the crease ended for 16 off 10 balls. She struck three fours and was trapped lbw by Vaishnavi Sharma in the third over. Rachel Trenaman continued alongside Courtney Webb, but their partnership lasted only 18 runs before Trenaman was dismissed for 20 off 15 balls. Sayali Satghare provided the breakthrough, leaving Australia A at 42/2 in the sixth over.

With two early wickets down, Courtney Webb and Anika Learoyd changed the momentum of the Australia A innings. The two batters settled in and built the most important partnership of the match, adding 100 runs for the third wicket. Webb combined controlled strokeplay with timely attacking shots, while Learoyd steadily accelerated as the innings progressed. Their partnership carried Australia A from 42/2 to 142/3 before Webb was dismissed for an excellent 52 off 42 balls. Her innings contained five fours and a six, giving Australia A a strong platform heading into the final overs.

Learoyd continued the assault after Webb’s departure and brought up a well-made 61 from 42 deliveries. She found the boundary five times and cleared it on three occasions before Sayali Satghare struck again in the 20th over, dismissing her at 160/4. Satghare finished with 2/25 from her four overs, making her the most successful India A bowler alongside Vaishnavi Sharma, who also claimed two wickets.

Australia A’s finishing phase was brief but productive. Nicole Faltum scored seven from nine balls before being run out by Shweta Sehrawat, with the score moving to 164/5. Sianna Ginger then added a quick three from one ball before being run out, while Hayley Silver-Holmes remained unbeaten on four from two deliveries. The late cameos helped Australia A reach 168/5 from their 20 overs, setting India A a target of 169.

For India A, Vaishnavi Sharma returned figures of 2/32 from four overs, while Minnu Mani was particularly economical, conceding just 17 runs from her three overs. Simran Bahadur gave away 32 runs in three overs, Tanuja Kanwar conceded 34 from three, and Niki Prasad finished with 0/25 from three overs.

India A Women began the chase with intent, and Vrinda Dinesh and Tejal Hasabnis immediately put pressure on the Australian attack. Their opening partnership produced 84 runs and gave India A the perfect platform for the chase. Vrinda attacked from the outset, while Hasabnis matched her tempo at the other end. The partnership finally ended when Hasabnis was dismissed for a rapid 42 off 24 balls, including three fours and three sixes. Sianna Ginger claimed the wicket, leaving India A at 84/1 after 7.4 overs.

Anushka Sharma joined Vrinda Dinesh and the pair added another 21 runs before the India A captain was dismissed for 11 off 10 balls. Tayla Vlaeminck provided the breakthrough, reducing India A to 105/2. Minnu Mani then walked in but could add only three from seven deliveries before Lilly Mills dismissed her at 127/3. The same bowler struck again almost immediately, removing Niki Prasad for a two-ball duck and leaving India A at 127/4.

Vrinda Dinesh remained the key figure in the chase and continued to attack despite the wickets falling around her. She produced an impressive 69 from 41 balls, hitting five fours and five sixes at a strike rate of 168.29. However, her innings came to an end at 129/5 when Hayley Silver-Holmes dismissed her in the 15th over. With India A’s main batter gone, the pressure increased significantly.

Shweta Sehrawat was dismissed for nine off nine balls by Tayla Vlaeminck, followed by Tanuja Kanwar’s three off four deliveries, with Lilly Mills completing her third wicket. India A slipped to 140/7, and the chase was rapidly losing momentum. Vlaeminck then claimed her third wicket by removing Sayali Satghare for one, leaving India A at 142/8. Frankie Nicklin joined the list of wicket-takers when Uma Chetry was caught for two, leaving the hosts nine down at 148.

Simran Bahadur kept India’s hopes alive with an unbeaten 15 from 11 balls, striking two fours. She found some support from Vaishnavi Sharma, but the final wicket arrived with India A on 161 in the final over. Darcie Brown dismissed Simran’s partner through a run-out, with Vaishnavi Sharma departing for one from five balls. India A were therefore bowled out for 161 in 19.5 overs, falling seven runs short.

For Australia A, Tayla Vlaeminck was the pick of the attack with 3/24 from four overs, while Lilly Mills also impressed with 3/40. Frankie Nicklin claimed 1/21 from her four overs, Sianna Ginger finished with 1/34 from four, and Hayley Silver-Holmes picked up 1/12 from her two overs. Darcie Brown bowled two overs for 19 runs without a wicket, while the Australian bowling unit ultimately held its nerve during India’s late charge.

The seven-run victory completed a 3-0 series sweep for Australia A Women, but India A Women can take encouragement from Vrinda Dinesh’s aggressive 69 and Tejal Hasabnis’ 42. For Australia A, the contributions of Anika Learoyd, Courtney Webb and the bowling attack ensured that their unbeaten run in the three-match Australia A Women tour of India 2026 continued through the series finale.
