“When I put my step in Wankhede again, it will be my 10th year in Mumbai Indians, it’s a beautiful journey, I am always excited, it’s a festival, I double excited to play for the franchise and if you check my blood, it might be blue,” Suryakumar Yadav said on Humans of Bombay.

Suryakumar also explained why Mumbai Indians has played such an important role in his development. He compared the franchise to an institution where players are taught discipline and receive support throughout the year.

Suryakumar’s numbers underline the importance of his association with MI. In 127 T20 matches for the franchise, he has accumulated 4,020 runs at an average of 36.54 and a strike rate of 151.24. His tally includes two centuries, 30 fifties, 433 fours and 158 sixes.
He is currently second on Mumbai Indians’ all-time T20 run-scoring chart behind Rohit Sharma, who has 6,432 runs for the franchise. Kieron Pollard is third with 3,915 runs.
