Smriti Mandhana creates history, becomes first woman to score 11,000 international runs

India Women’s National Cricket Team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has added another huge achievement to her already brilliant career on Tuesday, September 22. Smriti Mandhana scripted history by becoming the first woman cricketer in the world to score 11,000 international runs.

The 30-year-old left-handed batter reached the landmark during the women’s cricket competition at the Asian Games 2026 between the India Women’s National Cricket Team and the Sri Lanka Women’s National Cricket Team at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.

Smriti Mandhana needed only 13 runs to reach the massive milestone, and she completed it in just 10 balls in the ongoing Asian Games 2026 clash against Sri Lanka at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.

Mandhana wasted no time in showing her attacking intent as she smashed the first six of the game against Sri Lanka bowler Sugandika Kumari. She went onto the back foot and played a powerful flat-batted shot over mid-on. The ball sailed over the boundary as the Indian opener picked up her first six of the innings in style to script the history in women’s cricket.

With this achievement, Mandhana has become the first woman player in the world to reach 11,000 international runs, strengthening her position as one of the biggest names in women’s cricket.
