The <a href="https://cricket.international/smriti-mandhana-scripts-history-with-11000-international-runs-during-indias-asian-games-gold/” title=”Smriti Mandhana Scripts History With 11000 International Runs During India's Asian Games Gold”>International Cricket Council (ICC) announced its new Chief Executives Committee (CEC) member, Abhiram Singh Yadav, who is an Associate member representative. He will be taking one of the three CEC positions reserved for Associate members of the world governing body. This is a historic moment for Abhiram, who is the Chairman of Persatuan Cricket Indonesia.
Abhiram Singh Yadav has been backed by the Chairman of the ICC, Jay Shah, as he won the seat by a huge margin of 30 out of 43 votes. Opposition candidate Sarah Gommeril from Jersey got nine votes. Vignesh Sankaran from Germany received three votes. This is a historic moment for Indonesian cricket as they develop. It also shows Jay Shah’s dominance.

Abhiram Singh Yadav, after being appointed as one of the CEC members, thanked Jay Shah. He revealed that the ICC Chairman helped him and encouraged the game to think beyond the boundaries. Abhiram has huge respect for the latter, as he pledged to work closely with the ICC Chairman, as the latter has played a key role in ensuring that Associate Members get global exposure.
He said (as quoted by Cricbuzz), “I have tremendous respect for the leadership, energy and ambition Mr. Jay Shah has brought to world cricket. He has consistently encouraged the game to think beyond its traditional boundaries – about new markets, new generations, women’s cricket, innovation and the enormous possibilities that lie ahead for our sport.”
“For Associates, that matters enormously. Mr. Shah has recognised the vital role Associate Members can play in cricket’s global expansion. We should respond to that confidence with ambition and action.”
Abhiram Singh Yadav becomes third member to fill CEC spot
Yadav will fill one of three CEC spots reserved for Associate Members. In July, Gurumurthi Palani was named to the ICC Board, leaving this seat empty. Yadav will be on the CEC until the next election. These elections will be held at the ICC’s Annual Conference in June 2027.
Under him, Indonesia’s cricket journey has seen rapid growth in recent years. Cricket is now played at both men’s and women’s levels in 21 of the country’s 38 provinces. They also played in the Women’s Asia Cup but failed to win a single game.
Yadav became the third Associate representative on the ICC board. The other two members of the board, in addition to the 12 Full Members, are Gurdeep Klair of Canada and Anuraag Bhatnagar of Hong Kong, China. The CEC is led by ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta.

He said he is ready to work closely with ICC Chairman Mr. Shah, the ICC Board, CEC, management and member nations to grow cricket globally. Yadav also pointed out that Associate Members should play an active role in driving cricket’s growth, rather than simply benefiting from it.
“As a CEC member, I am ready to work constructively with Mr. Shah, the ICC Board, CEC, ICC management and Members to help advance those ambitions. Associate Members should not simply be beneficiaries of cricket’s global growth. We should be active partners in helping deliver it,” he said, reacting to his election.
