The 2026 edition of Global T20 Canada is set to take an exciting new turn as the tournament will be played in the Caribbean. The upcoming Global T20 Canada season will be hosted in St Vincent and the Grenadines during the October-November window.

Global T20 Canada to be played in Caribbean before Canada return
Global T20 Canada is expanding cross-border cricket tournaments by staging its 2026 edition in St Vincent and the Grenadines before returning to Canada in 2027.
Cricket West Indies said that hosting the tournament in the Caribbean is part of a plan to “deepen cricketing, developmental and commercial ties between Canada and the West Indies”.
The move will allow Canadian and emerging North American players to play alongside experienced Caribbean and international cricketers. At the same time, West Indies players will get greater exposure to Canada’s cricket system.
CWI shares major benefits of GT20’s Caribbean edition
Cricket West Indies CEO Chris Dehring highlighted the importance of building strong relationships with associate cricket nations in the region. He believes the partnership will help develop Canadian cricket while showcasing the Caribbean as one of the major cricketing regions in the world.
Chris Dehring said in an official CWI media release: “As the only full member of the ICC in the hemisphere, we believe it is important to forge mutually beneficial relationships with ICC Associate Members across the region, for the health of the game and, indeed, for the continued development of West Indies cricket.”
The CWI CEO added, “Hosting the 2026 tournament in the Caribbean before its return to Canada next year marks the beginning of a partnership that can facilitate the continued development of Canadian cricket while showcasing our region as one of the great cricketing regions of world cricket.”
Global T20 Canada’s Caribbean shift has a bigger purpose

Arvinder Khosa stated, “NCL GT20 is fundamentally a Canadian tournament, and the Caribbean provides a special home for our 2026 edition. This is about much more than taking a tournament to another country for one season. It is about building a bridge between Canadian and West Indies cricket, connecting players, administrators, fans and commercial partners.”
Global T20 Canada set for return after major changes
Global T20 Canada was launched in 2018 and has completed four seasons so far. However, the tournament faced several interruptions over the years. The 2020, 2021 and 2022 editions were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2025 season also did not take place after Cricket Canada awarded a long-term licence to National Cricket League Canada last year, leading to restructuring.
The last edition was played in 2024, when the Toronto Nationals defeated the Montreal Tigers in the final in Ontario to lift the title.
The upcoming 2026 Global T20 Canada will feature five teams instead of six, with all franchises also receiving new names as part of the tournament’s restructuring.
