“You love me, right?”: Shikhar Dhawan’s wife spots Rohit Sharma wallpaper on his phone

A light-hearted clip featuring Shikhar Dhawan and his wife Sophie Shine has gone viral on social media. Dhawan and Rohit formed one of India’s most successful ODI opening pairs. Their partnership lasted for nearly a decade and produced several memorable performances before Dhawan retired from international cricket in 2024. Rohit, meanwhile, remains active in ODIs after retiring from Tests and T20Is.

Sophie Shine Spots Rohit Sharma on Shikhar Dhawan’s Phone

Sophie Shine playfully asked Dhawan, “You love me, right?” The former India opener immediately replied, “Of course, I love you!” However, she then noticed that his phone wallpaper featured a picture of Rohit Sharma.

She jokingly challenged her husband to show more affection for her than his former opening partner. Dhawan smiled and responded, “Yeah, sure”.

The clip quickly attracted attention from fans, many of whom viewed the wallpaper as another example of the strong bond between the two former teammates. Their friendship has continued even after they stopped opening the innings together for India.

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan Formed One of ODI Cricket’s Best Opening Pairs

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan were first paired as India’s opening combination by MS Dhoni before the 2013 Champions Trophy. They immediately made an impact, putting together a 127-run partnership against South Africa in Cardiff.

The duo went on to open together in more than 115 ODIs between 2013 and 2022. They scored around 5,100 runs at an average of approximately 45.5 and registered 18 century partnerships, the second-most by an opening pair in ODI cricket behind Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly.

Dhawan brought an aggressive approach at the top, while Rohit Sharma combined timing with the ability to build his innings. Their understanding helped India produce several big opening stands across major tournaments and bilateral series.

One of their standout efforts came during the 2018 Asia Cup against Pakistan. The pair added an unbeaten 210 for the first wicket, with both batters scoring centuries in a comfortable chase. They also shared a 193-run partnership against Australia in Mohali in 2019.

The two former opening partners also featured in a playful segment on Family Full House with Rohit Sharma. Host Maniesh Paul asked them about their single days and wanted to know who had attracted more female fans.

Rohit Sharma picked Shikhar Dhawan when asked which of them had more female fans. Dhawan, however, turned the question into a compliment for his former captain.

“I think that in India, especially Indian girls, love cute looks more, so Rohit is cute,” Dhawan said.

Rohit immediately called out the diplomatic nature of the answer while laughing.

“Bada diplomatic answer de rahe ho idhar,” Rohit Sharma said.

Maniesh Paul then noticed Rohit gradually moving away while Dhawan was answering and teased him about appearing shy. Rohit clarified that he was not embarrassed and explained why he found Dhawan’s response funny.

“Sharma nahi raha hoon. Bhai, main iske jawaabon pe hans raha tha yaar. Kyunki itne diplomatic answers de raha hai yeh ki ‘cute sa tha’, yeh tha, woh tha,” Rohit said.
