Parvinder Awana appointed BCCI Junior Selection Committee Chairman

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has on Friday announced a new Junior Selection Committee, with the fifth and final member of the panel to be named soon.

The former Indian pacer Parvinder Awana has been named the chairman of India’s Junior Selection Committee, while he will be assisted by Krishna Das, Rakesh Patel, and N. Arjun Yadav.

The BCCI said in an official media release: “The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) conducted a selection process for the appointment of members to the Junior Cricket Committee.

The CAC screened and interviewed applicants and, following the process, recommended the appointment of Parvinder Awana as Chairman, along with Krishna Das, Rakesh Patel, and N. Arjun Yadav as members of the Committee.”

Parvinder Awana Brings Playing And Coaching Experience
Parvinder Awana played two T20I matches for India and took 191 wickets in 62 first-class matches. During his playing career, he represented Delhi, India A, and the rest of India. He also played in the IPL for Kings XI Punjab, which is now known as Punjab Kings.
After retiring from the game, Awana moved into coaching. He worked with Delhi’s Under-16, Under-19, and Under-23 teams. He was also involved with the India Under-19 team and several BCCI and Centre of Excellence high-performance programs.
Krishna Das and Rakesh Patel join the panel.
Krishna Das is a former fast bowler from Assam and Goa, and he played 49 first-class matches and picked up 166 wickets. He also represented India U-19 and India A. After his playing career, he worked as the bowling coach of India Under-19 and the Uttarakhand Ranji Trophy team.
Rakesh Patel, however, represented Gujarat and Baroda during his playing days. He also played for India A, played in the Duleep Trophy, Deodhar Trophy and Irani Trophy.
Patel later moved into coaching and worked with Baroda and Gujarat teams at the Under-19, Under-23, and senior levels. He was the head coach of Baroda’s Under-23 team in the 2025-26 season.
N. Arjun Yadav Brings India U19 World Cup Experience
N. Arjun Yadav represented India A and played 83 first-class matches for Hyderabad. He was also part of India’s Under-19 World Cup-winning squad in 2000. Following his retirement, Arjun moved into coaching and served as the head coach of Hyderabad’s senior and Under-23 teams.
Yadav has also been working as a BCCI match referee since 2022. With experience in playing, coaching, and match officiating, the four members bring different strengths to the junior selection panel. The appointment of the fifth member will complete the committee.
