Glamorgan County Cricket Club have signed England international Georgia Davis from Warwickshire on a three-year deal ahead of the 2027 season. The 27-year-old right-arm off-break bowler brings domestic experience and leadership qualities to the club. Davis became Warwickshire’s first-ever women’s captain in 2025 and has been a consistent performer in regional and franchise cricket. She has built experience at the highest level of domestic cricket. Her arrival gives Glamorgan an experienced player as they prepare for the 2027 season.

Davis made her England debut in September 2024, playing an ODI <a href="https://cricket.international/top-3-india-women-players-to-watch-out-<a href="https://cricket.international/top-3-sri-lanka-women-players-to-watch-out-against-pakistan/” title=”Top 3: Sri Lanka Women Players to Watch Out Against Pakistan”>against-bangladesh/” title=”Top 3: India Women Players to Watch Out Against Bangladesh”>against Ireland. Her progress through domestic cricket has been notable with Central Sparks, where she became one of the country’s reliable wicket-takers. She made early contributions in 2020 and 2021 before leading the Sparks wicket tally in the Charlotte Edwards Cup. Davis signed her first professional contract in 2023 and enjoyed an outstanding season. She finished as the leading wicket-taker in the Rachael Heyhoe-Flint Trophy and was also among the leading bowlers in the Charlotte Edwards Cup.

The spinner continued her strong form in 2024 and produced a career-best 6/23 in the Rachael Heyhoe-Flint Trophy. Alongside regional cricket, Davis has also been a regular name in The Hundred. She has represented Trent Rockets and, more recently, Welsh Fire in the competition. Her time with Welsh Fire has also given her a strong connection with Sophia Gardens, where she has become familiar to Glamorgan supporters. Her experience across domestic and franchise cricket adds depth to her record. Glamorgan will now have her services for the next three years.

Speaking about the move, Davis said she was grateful for the chance to join Glamorgan and spoke about the club’s place in Welsh cricket. “Joining Glamorgan is an opportunity I’m incredibly grateful for. The Club’s history, heritage, and contribution to Welsh cricket make it a special place, and it’s clear that something really exciting is being built here.” She also praised the women’s team for its progress in Tier 2 and looked forward to helping with the next challenge. “The success the women’s team achieved in Tier 2 has laid a fantastic foundation, and it’s a credit to everyone who has worked so hard to get the club to this point. I’m excited to play my part in the next chapter, helping the club take on the challenge of Tier 1.”

Glamorgan’s Head of Women & Girls Cricket, Aimee Rees, said Davis will be an important addition to the squad. “Georgia is a fantastic addition to our squad, and we’re delighted to have her on board. She brings a wealth of experience from international and franchise cricket, as well as strong leadership qualities, which will be invaluable to the group both on and off the field.” Rees also highlighted Davis’s existing connection with the club through Welsh Fire. She said Davis understands the environment, ambitions and importance of representing Welsh cricket, which should help her settle quickly. Rees added that her experience, leadership and knowledge will be a major asset.

Davis arrives at Glamorgan with experience from international, regional and franchise cricket, along with leadership experience from Warwickshire. Her record with Central Sparks includes the 2023 leading-wicket-taker season and the career-best 6/23 in 2024. Her England debut came in September 2024, while her appearances for Trent Rockets and Welsh Fire have added more experience in The Hundred. Her connection with Sophia Gardens is familiar to Glamorgan supporters. The club will now look to Davis to bring that experience and leadership as it prepares for Tier 1 cricket and the next 3 years ahead for Glamorgan.
