Guyana Amazon Warriors Women won their first Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) title after a thrilling two-wicket victory over Trinbago Knight Riders Women at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, on September 17. Trinbago won the toss and chose to bat first, making 145/6 in 20 overs. Guyana needed 146 and reached 149/8 in 19.3 overs, sealing the match with three balls left. It was a tense final that stayed alive until the closing moments.

Trinbago were 27/2 after the Powerplay, but Sushma Verma steadied the innings with 39 from 34 balls. Deandra Dottin made 10 from 17, while Jannillea Glasgow scored 16 from 25 before being retired out. Marizanne Kapp then added a quick 25 from only 10 balls. Madeline Penna stayed unbeaten on 12 and Shikha Pandey made 27 from 17. Jahzara Claxton was not out on 2 as Trinbago finished on 145/6.

Guyana’s bowling was led by Shabnim Ismail, who took 2/18 from four overs, while Shamilia Connell finished with 1/18. The Warriors began their chase well, reaching 43/1 in the Powerplay and 50 in 7.4 overs. Wickets then fell quickly. Tazmin Brits made 22 from 29, Erin Burns scored 12 from 12 and Shemaine Campbelle made 9 from 15. Realeanna Grimmond scored 2 from 6 and Nadine de Klerk was out for 0 from 1.

Guyana slipped to 55/5, giving Trinbago control of the chase. Chloe Tryon then gave the Warriors hope with a brisk 32 from 18 balls. Chedean Nation joined her and produced the innings that changed the final. Nation finished unbeaten on 39 from 21 balls, with four sixes, while Tryon and Nation added 40 runs from 23 balls. Tryon was bowled by Laura Harris for 32 in the 17th over, leaving Nation to continue the chase.

Sheneta Grimmond was dismissed for 10 from 10 in the 19th over, leaving Guyana needing 16 runs from nine balls. Nation stayed calm under pressure as she faced Shikha Pandey and Karishma Ramharack in the closing stages. She kept the chase moving and finished the job with three balls remaining. Guyana ended on 149/8 in 19.3 overs and won by 2 wickets. For Trinbago, Deandra Dottin, Shikha Pandey and Karishma Ramharack took 2 wickets each, while Brianna Harricharan took 1.

Nation was named Player of the Match for her unbeaten 39 from 21 balls, which came at a strike rate of 185.71 and included four sixes. Shemaine Campbelle was named Player of the Series. Trinbago had made a competitive total after winning the toss, while Guyana’s chase looked in serious trouble after their collapse. The Warriors were reduced to 71/6 in the 13th over, but Nation’s arrival at number eight gave them the fight they needed.

The final also completed Guyana Amazon Warriors Women’s title journey after they had reached the WCPL final in 2023 and 2025. After two previous final appearances, they finally secured the championship. Trinbago’s innings was built around Verma’s 39, followed by the late contributions from Kapp and Pandey. Guyana’s chase then turned into a lower-order fightback, with Tryon’s 32 and Nation’s unbeaten 39 taking the Warriors close to the target.

The result brought the 2026 Women’s Caribbean Premier League to a dramatic finish. Guyana Amazon Warriors Women completed their chase at 149/8 in 19.3 overs, while Trinbago Knight Riders Women had scored 145/6 in 20 overs. Guyana won by 2 wickets with three balls remaining and lifted the title. Nation’s unbeaten 39 earned her the Player of the Match award, while Campbelle was named Player of the Series.
