India vs New Zealand 3rd T20I has been played at the Hnry Stadium, Wellington. The Men in Blue have already won the first two games of the five-match series. A win in this game will help the side to win the series. During the chase, openers Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi went on a carnage run and broke the record for the fastest team 100 in T20Is.

Shreyas Iyer’s side has totally dominated the Kiwis at their back end. They have been at their very best, chasing down 226 runs in the first match with ease, then winning a thriller in the second game, and in the third game they are well ahead of the required run rate as they broke several records inside the powerplay.

India creates history, scores fastest 100 in T20Is

India broke the record of <a href="https://cricket.international/simon-harmer-says-pat-cummins-ate-his-words-after-south-africa-beat-australia-in-2nd-test/" title="Simon Harmer says Pat Cummins 'ate his words' after South Africa beat Australia in 2nd Test”>South Africa for the fastest team 100 in T20Is for a full member team. The Proteas previously took 5.3 overs to reach the 100-run mark against the West Indies. However, the Men in Blue needed just five overs to reach the milestone. It was carnage hitting from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma, who took the Black Caps bowlers apart.

The Men in Blue started chasing 199 runs to win the series. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi started the carnage, with Abhishek Sharma joining the party, and the latter did not stop as he kept on attacking the Kiwi bowlers and smacked them all over the park. Vaibhav was more of a spectator, and they scored 118 runs inside the powerplay, which is the best powerplay score.

5.2 overs – Romania vs Serbia, Sofia, 2021
5.3 overs – SA vs WI, Centurion, 2023

5.5 overs – ZIM vs GAM, Nairobi, 2024
5.5 overs – ENG vs SA, Old Trafford, 2025

100-plus totals Overs 1-6 in Men’s T20Is
118/0 – India vs New Zealand, Wellington, 2026
116/0 – Romania vs Serbia, Sofia, 2021 (5.4 overs)
113/1 – Australia vs Scotland, Edinburgh, 2024

102/0 – South Africa vs West Indies, Centurion, 2023
100/0 – England vs South Africa, Old Trafford, 2025
100/0 – India vs Afghanistan, Delhi, 2026

Abhishek Sharma stands tall for the side

The Men in Blue stitched a partnership of 133 runs inside the 7 overs. Abhishek has been batting and is nearing his hundred, while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played a superb knock of 45 runs off 1 delivery, smashing four sixes and as many fours.

India are just 37 runs away from winning the series, as in 9 overs the side is 162/1, and it will be a record run chase for the side given the start they got and the way the two openers played in this match.

Daryl Mitchell helped New Zealand to post a respectable total

Kiwis were invited to bat first as they scored 199 runs, with Daryl Mitchell stepping up for the side after they lost Tim Seifert early in the innings.

The Kiwi batter scored 89 runs off 52 deliveries; he was supported by Finn Allen, who scored 40 runs, and Bevon Jacobs, who scored 39 runs. They finally scored 199 in their 20 overs. But India in the chase made a mockery.
