Sohail Khan has sparked another controversy with his latest comments about former Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur. The former Pakistan fast bowler has brought back memories of his difficult relationship with Mickey Arthur and made serious allegations about the former coach.
He claimed that Arthur did not understand coaching and questioned the way he handled players during his time with the Pakistan National Cricket Team. Sohail also claimed that he was repeatedly ignored despite strong performances for Pakistan and in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Sohail Khan launches fresh attack on Mickey Arthur
Former Pakistan pacer Sohail Khan has made a controversial remark about the former head coach Mickey Arthur, as he questioned his state of mind and coaching ability. He claimed that player selections were influenced by powerful people when Arthur was the coach.
Sohail has openly claimed that Arthur had a poor understanding of coaching and that his decisions were not purely based on the performances.
He revealed that Mushtaq Ahmed and Arthur had met and had a conversation during the Bangladesh tour, and that’s how he brought him into the Pakistan setup.
‘Mickey Arthur is mentally ill’: Sohail Khan slams former Pakistan coach
Sohail Khan said on the Fawad Alam show on YouTube, “Mickey Arthur is mentally ill. I’m saying this openly; he’s mad. He’s 100% mentally ill, and you can ask the players except those who were getting his backing. He doesn’t know coaching, yet Mushtaq Ahmed brought him into the Pakistan setup. He was used to pick the players not only based on their performances but also because of the power behind them.”

Sohail Khan also recalled his own problems with Arthur during the coach’s time with Pakistan. The former fast bowler revealed that he was dropped from the Pakistan team across formats despite producing strong performances in international cricket and the PSL.
He claimed that when he questioned Arthur about his exclusion, the coach explained that he wanted to give opportunities to younger players. Interestingly, Arthur was the man who first picked Sohail for the Karachi Kings team in the PSL, and he, along with Mushtaq Ahmed, was a coach then, yet they dropped him from the Pakistan team. Sohail explained, “He intentionally dropped me from Pakistan’s Test, ODI, and T20I teams despite the fact that I was delivering the brilliant performances for the team. So, I asked him, and he was like, ‘I want to give chances to young players.”
“Then I argued, saying when I was young, you used to say you have a 10-15 year-long career, so I’m giving chances to senior players, and now you are saying I want a young player. So, he did such injustice to me.”

Notably, the former fast bowler made his Pakistan debut against Zimbabwe in 2008 and played 9 Tests, 13 ODIs, and 5 T20Is.
Across first-class cricket, Sohail finished with 516 wickets in 121 matches, while he took 177 wickets in 98 List A games and 182 wickets in 148 T20 matches. Sohail was also part of Pakistan’s 2015 World Cup squad.
