Suryakumar Yadav has revealed that he would like to have the six-hitting ability of 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Speaking on the Humans of Bombay YouTube channel, Suryakumar praised the youngster’s ability to clear the boundary despite being an established T20 batter himself.
Suryakumar is currently looking to earn a recall to India’s T20I squad after losing the captaincy and his place in the playing XI following the 2026 T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, Vaibhav has emerged as one of India’s brightest young batting prospects through his performances in domestic and franchise cricket.
Suryakumar Yadav Praises Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Six-Hitting Ability
When asked to pick one skill from any cricketer in the world, Suryakumar ignored established international stars and chose Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The former India T20I captain stated that the youngster has the ability to clear the boundary consistently at such a young age.
“There is a young boy, you must have heard his name – Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Definitely his six-hitting ability,” Yadav said.
Sooryavanshi’s power-hitting has been one of the defining features of his rapid rise. He finished IPL 2026 with 776 runs for Rajasthan Royals and won the Orange Cap, while his 72 sixes set a new record for the most sixes by a batter in a single IPL season.
His 2026 campaign came after he played a key role in India’s U19 World Cup triumph earlier in the year. He also went on to make his senior international debut at just 15.
Suryakumar Yadav Picks Jasprit Bumrah as Toughest Bowler
Suryakumar was also asked to name the toughest bowler he has faced during his career. He immediately picked his Mumbai Indians and India teammate Jasprit Bumrah, highlighting the challenge of facing one of the world’s leading fast bowlers.
“He is in my team only, Bumrah,” Suryakumar Yadav said.
The two have shared the dressing room for several seasons with the Mumbai Indians and India. However, Suryakumar also faced Bumrah earlier in his IPL career when he represented Kolkata Knight Riders. Bumrah’s ability to pace, movement, and accuracy has made him a difficult opponent across formats.
Suryakumar Yadav Gives 50-50 Answer on Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma
Suryakumar was then asked to choose between Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma, two players who have influenced different stages of his cricketing journey. He could not separate the two, giving a 50-50 answer.
“I started playing cricket because of Sachin sir. I was small, I used to watch him on TV, but I have played a lot of cricket with Rohit, under Rohit, so 50-50,” Suryakumar Yadav said.
Tendulkar was one of Suryakumar’s childhood inspirations, while Rohit became an important figure during his rise with Mumbai Indians and India. Rohit also backed Suryakumar’s attacking and innovative batting style as he established himself at the international level.
Suryakumar has represented India in 151 matches across formats, scoring 4,053 runs at an average of 33.49, including four centuries and 29 half-centuries. In the IPL, he has featured in 179 matches, amassing 4,581 runs at 33.68, with a strike rate of 148.58, along with two centuries and 31 fifties.
