Harry Brook, the white-ball captain of the England cricket team, did not reflect much on the injury of Adil Rashid but said that the pitch at the Riverside Ground looked dry as the English summer was hotter than usual. However, he confirmed Rashid would miss the ODI series opener at the Banks Homes Riverside on Tuesday.

“It looks dry. We’ve had a warm summer, so they probably haven’t been able to get as much water on it as they would have liked. But we’ll see how it plays in the first half,” Harry Brook said. After winning the toss, Brook elected to bat first.

In place of Rashid, the England cricket team has named Rehan Ahmed as his substitute. A like-for-like substitution in the playing eleven against Sri Lanka.
