In an exciting clash at Pocos de Caldas during the South American Women’s Championships, Brazil A Women showcased a dominant display <a href="https://cricket.international/rohit-sharma-vs-virat-kohli-who-has-better-record-<a href="https://cricket.international/rohit-sharmas-top-5-iconic-odi-knocks-against-west-indies/” title=”Rohit Sharma’s Top 5 iconic ODI knocks against West Indies”>against-west-indies/” title=”Rohit Sharma vs Virat Kohli: Who has better record against West Indies?”>against Chile Women to secure a resounding victory.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Brazil A Women kicked off their innings with a solid, patient opening partnership. Openers Ana Bessoni and Lavinia Silva anchored the early overs, putting on a steady 69-run stand for the first wicket. Bessoni played a defensive role, making 21 off 40 balls with 2 boundaries before being run out by Jessica Miranda in the 11th over. Silva continued to build the foundation, scoring 31 off 52 balls (4 fours) before handing a return catch to Chilean skipper Constanza Oyarce in the 14th over.

Chile’s bowling attack attempted to slow down the scoring rate in the middle overs. Constanza Oyarce proved to be the standout bowler for Chile Women, taking 2 for 26 in her 4-over spell. She quickly removed Geovana De Lima bowled for 3 off 9 balls to leave Brazil at 103/2. Shortly after, Florencia Martinez made her mark by trapping Gabriela Bernardes lbw for 11 off 16 balls. Despite economical spells from Jessica Miranda (0/23 in 4 overs), Sofia Araya (0/6 in 1 over), and Tiara Pueye (0/6 in 1 over), discipline was a struggle for the Chilean attack, which conceded 71 extras, including 42 wides and 20 no-balls.

Sofia Mardones went for 41 runs in her 4 overs without taking a wicket. Following a quick run out of Ana Da Silva for 3 off 7 balls, captain Beatriz Pereira stepped up alongside Hilary Iaccino. Iaccino struck a quickfire 14 off 8 balls (3 fours) before falling lbw to Alejandra Zuniga (1/23) in the final over. Pereira remained unbeaten on 10 off 8 balls with Eloise Thomaz (0*) to wrap up the innings.

Chasing a target of 165 runs, Chile Women faced an uphill task from the start against a disciplined Brazilian bowling unit. Opening the chase, skipper Constanza Oyarce and Yaritza Rodriguez focused on survival, putting together a 20-run opening partnership across eight overs. Gabriela Bernardes broke the partnership by dismissing Oyarce for 2 off 23 balls, caught by Beatriz Pereira. Rodriguez tried to hold the innings together, scoring 11 off 38 balls with one boundary, but was eventually clean bowled by Eloise Thomaz with the score at 34/2 in the 12th over.

The pressure from the Brazil A Women bowlers proved too much during the lower-middle order overs. Monserrat Montero fought hard for her 7 off 29 balls before being caught by Hilary Iaccino off the bowling of Geovana De Lima. Ana Bessoni then got in on the action, dismissing Franchesca Moya for a duck, caught by TNR Pereira. Eloise Thomaz struck again to bowl Sofia Mardones for 3 off 17 balls, completing a fine spell of 2 for 8 in 3 overs.

Among the other Brazilian bowlers, Lavinia Silva was exceptionally frugal, conceding just 5 runs in her 4 overs with a maiden (0/5). Ana Da Silva (0/14) and Isabella Ramos (0/4) kept things extremely tight, while Bernardes ended with figures of 1/4 from 2 overs and De Lima took 1/12 in 3 overs. Unbeaten batters Jessica Miranda (1 off 6) and Florencia Martinez (0 off 3) saw out the remaining balls, as Chile Women reached 56/5 in their allotted 20 overs, giving Brazil A Women a decisive 108-run win.
