Abhishek Sharma has created history by smashing the fastest T20I century by an Indian batter in the ongoing third and final T20I against Afghanistan. With this breathtaking knock, the youngster broke the former Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s record for the fastest T20I hundred by an Indian.
Rohit had scored his century in 35 balls against Sri Lanka in 2017, while Abhishek reached the milestone in just 30 balls, hitting 10 sixes and nine fours. Now, Abhishek’s 30-ball hundred is the fastest by a batter against a Test-playing nation and the third-fastest century in T20I history.
His knock, followed by Sahil Chauhan’s 27-ball hundred for Estonia against Cyprus in 2024 and Muhammad Fahad’s 29-ball hundred for Turkey against Bulgaria in 2025, is faster. Abhishek also became the only batter in T20I history to score two hundreds in fewer than 30 balls, while becoming only the fourth Indian batter to hit three or more hundreds in men’s T20Is.

Abhishek Sharma hits another milestones
Abhishek also created another record during his explosive start. His 76 off 22 balls* is now the highest individual score in the first six overs of a men’s T20I.
He moved past Kuldeep Gholiya’s 74* off 25 balls for Portugal against Malta in 2023 and Travis Head’s 73* off 22 balls for Australia against Scotland in 2024.
Abhishek has added another record to his name after his explosive batting performance against Afghanistan. The Indian opener now has the most T20I fifties scored in 20 balls or fewer.
