Pakistan National Cricket Team opening batter Sahibzada Farhan has made a stunning start to his journey as the team’s full-time T20I captain. Sahibzada Farhan led Pakistan to a 2-1 T20I series victory over Sri Lanka at home, while delivering outstanding performances with the bat.

Although Pakistan suffered a humiliating eight-wicket defeat in the third and final T20I on October 13, Farhan smashed a stunning half-century.

The right-hander hit fifty in every match and finished the series with a remarkable 238 runs to break Indian opener Abhishek Sharma’s record. Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board moves President’s Trophy fixtures after governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Sahibzada Farhan breaks Abhishek Sharma’s record

Sahibzada Farhan began the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka with a superb 89 off just 53 balls in the opening match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. He continued his impressive run by scoring 73 in the second T20I and 76 in the third match.

His total of 238 runs made him the highest run-scorer in a three-match T20I series among players from Full Member nations. He went past Abhishek Sharma, who had scored 229 runs in three T20Is against Afghanistan in Delhi in 2026.

New Zealand’s Colin Munro is at the third position on the list with 223 runs against the <a href="https://cricket.international/tilak-varma-opens-up-on-his-bizarre-run-out-in-3rd-t20i-vs-west-indies/" title="Tilak Varma opens up on his bizarre run out in 3rd T20I vs West Indies“>West Indies in 2017-18. Australia’s David Warner follows with 217 runs against Sri Lanka in 2019, while Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai and India’s Shreyas Iyer both scored 204 runs in their respective three-match series.

However, the overall world record for the most runs in a three-match T20I series still belongs to Spain’s Mohammad Ihsan. He scored 283 runs against Croatia in December 2025. Austria’s Karanbir Singh is second on the overall list after scoring 260 runs against Hungary earlier in 2026.

Farhan joins Virat Kohli on elite T20I list

Apart from breaking Abhishek Sharma’s record, Sahibzada Farhan achieved another special milestone. The Pakistan captain’s three consecutive half-centuries helped him enter an exclusive list featuring former Indian captain Virat Kohli.

Farhan became the first Pakistani batter and only the eighth player overall to score at least 50 runs in all three matches of a bilateral T20I series consisting of three games.

Kohli was the first player to achieve this special feat when he scored three consecutive half-centuries against Australia in January 2016. He finished that series with 199 runs.

After Kohli, New Zealand’s Colin Munro, Australia’s David Warner, West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran, India’s Shreyas Iyer, South Africa’s Reeza Hendricks, and Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran also achieved the same milestone in the shorter format of the game. Amid this, Watch: Comedy of errors! Sri Lanka miss simple run-out as Arafat Minhas, Sahibzada Farhan end up at same end.

Meanwhile, Farhan said that scoring runs gives him more confidence and motivates him to perform even better in the next match. He also praised Randhawa for his bowling with the new ball and hailed Naseem Shah’s performance after the final T20I against Sri Lanka.

Farhan said at the post-match presentation, “When I perform well, I’m even more focused on doing well in the next match. It’s cricket; you’re not always in form. So, I’m looking to make the most of it. Happy as a captain.”
